I stay in during eclipses. This spiritual tradition passed down resonates with my sensibilities: those of going within first.
Outwardly, a solar eclipse represents the Sun, our life force and highest local consciousness, blocked. For me, it is then important to keep the highest level of consciousness intact, secure, and balanced within.
Sometimes, I am called to stand with an eclipse, in its light or lack thereof. This happened last year during a total lunar eclipse and so I did stand with it — you may remember me sharing about how my ancestors all came to stand, along with the ancestors of the land on which I stood, to hold space and increase the power of their connection for the coming cycle, available to all who choose to move into that connection.
We needed it. We still do. I hope you are connecting with your ancestors whenever and however you feel is best. They call from every land and their wisdom lives within your DNA. It is your birthright.
This time, fate had me driving throughout the duration of the recent solar eclipse.
In the moment, I was navigating, careening through deep valleys, canyons stretching up on either side of me, the Arkansas River a constant companion. As soon as the eclipse began, I knew it: my entire being went deep and suddenly opened up to infinite heights.
If I hadn’t been driving, it would have been one of the deepest meditations I had ever achieved.
There has never been a time previous that comes close to the pure saturation of attunement with higher levels of consciousness, outside of those times of deep and sudden surrender that have saved my life in so many ways, so many times.
And, while those moments of pure surrender, brought on by my highest self and secured by my absolute faith, have occurred many a time — they have never been quite like this…
